When a client initially contacts me with a possible legal case I know the importance of getting back to them right away for a variety of reasons.
First of all, they have a preservation issue especially with a car accident case where a nice clean photo of the impact showing the damage is vital in proving liability. If the car is totaled I want to get a picture before the car is taken to the junk yard. I will usually go to where car is located to inspect the damage immediately. I never know if the picture will be an exhibit if the case goes to trial but you must be prepared if the case does go to trial. Also, there may be witnesses who saw the accident that need to be interviewed right away.
Secondly, a lot of the time I assist my clients in getting them paid for their property damage. Negotiating a property settlement claim with the insurance adjuster is usually frustrating to clients especially when they have no experience in doing so.
Third of all, there could be statute of limitations issues as in Connecticut you only have two years to bring a lawsuit in an auto accident case from the date of the accident. Procrastination is a fault of the human condition and I know how to overcome delay by getting back to my clients right away but not everyday!
Fourth and finally, I believe in getting things done timely and acting diligently and being there for my clients in their time of frustration, injury and despair.
Happy Holidays.
