Electric scooters are a convenient way to get around, but riders should never underestimate the risks involved. Unlike occupants of passenger vehicles, scooter riders have very little protection if they are involved in a collision.
Before heading out, take a few simple precautions. Always wear a properly fitted helmet, obey traffic signals, watch for turning vehicles, and avoid distracted riding. Be especially careful at intersections, where motorists may fail to see an approaching scooter.
Road conditions also matter. Potholes, loose gravel, uneven pavement, and wet surfaces can cause a rider to lose control in an instant.
A little extra caution can make a big difference. Enjoy the convenience of your scooter, but make safety your first priority.
